What Happens In Vegas [FINAL]

Safaree

"Safaree... Baby..."

"You lied to me. For five years."

"I did it for my daughter. I never planned on falling for you but I did. I was going to tell you-"

"When?!" He screamed into the receiver. Even though she was on the other side of the glass she jumped.

"Baby..."

"I'm not your fucking baby, son."

She laughed, "You act like you didn't cheat on me and marry the bitch!" She screamed as tears streamed down her face. A guard walked by her and gave her a warning.

"Does it even matter?" He asked. "I mean, does it even count? Tasha, you've stolen the identities of over 30 people. You cheated too!"

"Are you fucking serious?!"

"Enjoy your time behind bars. I'm not bailing your ass out." He stood and began walking away as she yelled obsenties at him.

Nicki

"I'm Nicki." She said out of breath and panicking to the officer blocking the doorway. "My name is Nicki... You guys called me."

"Right this way."

The officer let her pass. She followed the voices in the hallway. There were two officers and one familiar face standing outside of the bathroom door. She could hear her heart in her ears the closer she got. She tried to control her emotions but she couldn't. They moved aside and she rested her forehead on the door.

"Joshua?" She spoke quietly as the tears ran down her cheeks.

"Nicki?"

"Open the door. Please?" She begged through her shaky voice.

"This the only thing I can do right." He cried.

"Please..." She sniffled. "Don't do this. What about your kids..."

"I can't teach my sons to be a man. I'm a fuck up. I couldn't even treat you right."

"We had a lot of good times though, Josh. I love you. Please... Just open the door." The tears were steady as her entire body trembled.

"I just wanted to apologize to you, Onika."

"Josh!" She yelled.

"I'll always love you, baby. Forgive me."

"Joshua, don't-" Boom!

One Week Later

Nicki sat on her coach staring at the television. She'd rarley moved from that spot since the funeral. She couldn't help but to feel like it was all her fault. Besides the occasional cheating, Joshua was a good guy. Well, atleast that is what she told herself. He always needed someone. He had always needed her. She felt as though she had failed him.

The doorbell rang but she didn't move. It continued to go off but she was unmoved. Eventually they would go away. She didn't feel like being bothered. The sound of the door unlocking got her attention. She looked at Safaree as he walked in.

"I remembered where you kept the spare." He closed the door behind him.

She turned her head and looked at the videos of her and Joshua playing. Having Safaree in the room seemed to amplify her emotions. He was the last person she wanted to see. She silently cried as he sat beside her.

"I heard about what happened." He said softly. "I'm sorry you had to go through-"

"You should be!" She snapped. "If you would've never came in here fronting like you gave a fuck about me, he'd still be here!"

"What?" He asked confused.

"Why are you here? You wanna see me self destruct too?!" She stood over him.

He couldn't tell what she was thinking. He knew she wasn't thinking clearly though. He also knew that she needed someone to pull her out of this dark place. How though? Without thinking he stood to his feet and kissed her. She pulled away and slapped him as hard as she could.

"Get out." She moved pass him and sat back on the coach. She wrapped her blanket around her and continued to look at the tv.

"Nicki..."

"Go home to your wife, Safaree." She said dryly.

"I'm trying to check on her now!" He said angrily. "Stop being an asshole and let somebody care about you!"

"Who?" She chuckled. "You? You're a fucking liar. You told me that you loved me! You said that you cared!" She was angry. The tears had stopped but her emotions were still everywhere. "You just want to fuck. That's why your here. You don't care about me. I'll never be more than the other woman and the last time I checked I wasn't your wife so get the fuck out of here!"

"When's the last time you checked?" He asked going in his pocket. "Huh?" She looked at him angrily and he threw some papers at her. "Read that shit and get at me when you not so fucked up."

She watched him walk out. Her heart hurt even more. How could he say those things to her? Couldn't he tell that she was in pain? When she said leave she really meant stay. When she hit him, all she wanted was for him to pull her closer.

She picked up the letter. It was a denial of Tasha and Safaree's marriage license. Among the reasons listed were Safaree being a legally married man and "Tasha" being the stolen identity of a 40 year old woman. She let the paper fall as she rested her face in her hands. She cried until no more tears would come out. Then she screamed until her body went numb. Things couldn't possibly get worse, could they?

Two Months Later

Nicki looked at her nails while her friends engaged in conversation during the cab ride. They were now back in Vegas for Candi's birthday. She didn't want to go but they begged and pleaded. They even got her mother to talk to her. She finally broke down and said that she would go. No alcohol was to be had though. Not this time.

They stopped in front of a restaurant and all chipped in to pay the cab fare. They got out and walked in. Nicki sighed and Candi cut her eyes at her. She forced a smile and Candi rolled her eyes. She made a face at her when she wasn't looking.

"Um, Nic..." TT smiled.

"Yup?"

"You think you can have dinner without us?"

"What?!" She asked with an attitude. "I didn't come all the way here for you bitches to leave me."

"Here comes the attitude." Candi mumbled.

"You damn right I have an attitude. You knew this before we left. Yall could've left me in the room. Hell, you could've left me at home!"

"Nicki, shut up." TT said as she grabbed her wrist and began pulling her.

"Stop." She snatched her arm. "The fuck are you doing?"

Her eyes followed TT's finger to a table. Not just any table. The table where her husband was sat. She hadn't talked to him in over a month. She shook her head violently.

"Nicki," TT whispered sternly. "Go talk to him."

"No, are you crazy?" She whispered back.

"You are married to that man. At some point you need to figure shit out or get a divorce. The conversation starts tonight." They argued via eye contact before TT spoke again. "Safaree! Hey."

He looked up at a smiling TT and angry Nicki. He stood and forced a smile. TT pushed Nicki lightly and she barely moved. She pushed her a little harder and she stumbled forward. She looked back at TT and rolled her eyes before walking towards Safaree.

"You kids have fun!" TT smiled.

"I got it." Nicki said to Safaree when he went to pull her chair out. He stepped back and let her handle it.

"Hello." The waitress approached the table and placed a water in front of Safaree. "Would you like a drink, ma'am?"

"The strongest thing you have."

"Right away." She smiled and walked away.

"You haven't answered my calls." He began.

"Didn't feel like talking."

"Whenever I stop by-"

"Don't feel like having company."

"You're angry."

"I'm not." She said defensively.

"Ok."

She sighed, "I'm hurt."

"Here you are." The waitress sat a drink in front of her.

Safaree watched as she guzzled it down. He could tell it was strong by the faces she made while drinking it. He hoped she wouldn't become extremely intoxicated and difficult to handle in the restaurant.

"What do you want?" She asked.

"To talk."

"Well..."

"Without the sarcasm, attitude and bullshit, Onika."

"Oh, I'm Onika now. He must be upset. Are you upset?" She pouted.

"Stop."

She huffed, "I told you my situation and you comforted me right before shitting on me."

"It wasn't that serious."

"I told you everything that I'd been through with Josh and you made me the person I hate. On top of that, you lied. Treated me like a fucking burden."

"I didn't mean-"

"YOU DID!" She looked around at everyone staring at her.

"We should go somewhere else to talk."

The cab ride to his hotel room was silent. So was the elevator ride and the first twenty minutes of sitting in his room. Safaree pulled her to lay down next to him. She tried to pull away but he was entirely too strong. They stared at each other. She hadn't realized she was crying until he wiped her tears.

"If I would've went back to him like always, do you think he would still be alive?"

"I don't know." He shrugged. "It's not you're fault though, Nicki."

"I'm never making the right decisions anymore."

"Me either."

"Every since I met you." They both said.

"I shouldn't have gotten that drunk and married you, I should've never slept with you knowing that you had a girl, I should've-"

"I shouldn't have done those things either but I did. We did."

"I'm sorry for being a bitch to you."

"It's ok."

"No one understands what I'm going through." She cried. "Someone killed them self in front of me. And I really feel bad because I'm a hypocrite."

"Eventually you will feel better. You have to try though. I don't understand but you can't wake up and put on an attitude."

"I know."

"Why haven't you let me get in contact with you?"

"Everytime I see you, I see where I fucked up. It makes me so mad. What makes it even worse is that I miss you."

"What's wrong with that?"

"We can't-"

"We should try."

"What?"

"Nicki, I know you feel what I feel. Even just sitting here you don't want to be any where else."

"But-"

"Nothing is stopping us now. We can do it the right way. No cheating, lying-"

"How can I trust you? You cheated on your supposed wife."

"Honestly, that had nothing to do with you. We hadn't had a connection in over a year."

"That's no reason to cheat."

"Its not. If I feel things changing I will speak up. I'll treat you right. I promise."

"Safaree-"

"Nicki, let's try. We already married." He laughed and she smiled. "Is that a yes?"

"It was a smile." She rolled her eyes.

"Yup, we trying." He rolled out of the bed and she sat up.

"I never said that!" She laughed.

"We trying, we trying..." He sang as he walked to the bathroom. "You gone loveee me and spend the rest of your life with me...wifeyyyy!"

"Safaree!" He closed the bathroom door. She laughed. "I never said that! We getting divorced tomorrow!"

I really hope you guys like this final post. I do. That's rare. Lol. Its kind of dramatic and over the top but I like drama. Plus, its fiction. Who cares?
