What Happens In Vegas pt. 2 [OF]

Safaree had been back home for two days and he couldn't get Nicki off his mind. One minute he was laughing to himself about something funny she had said and the next he was mad because she still hadn't called him. It had been four days since he had seen her and he was running out of time. Tasha didn't know yet and he was hoping to quietly get this divorce and have her never find out.

"Safaree. Sah-faree!" Tasha pulled him from his thoughts.

"Huh?"

"I called you like ten times. Here." She handed him a piece of paper. "I need you to go to the store for me, remember?"

"Oh, yeah." He stood. "I gotchu."

"Hey." She stopped him before he walked out and approached him. She placed her hand on his cheek and scanned his eyes trying to read him. You would think after knowing someone for eight years that you should be able to read someone but she couldn't. She pulled him close and pecked his lips. "I love you."

"You too." He turned and walked out the door. It was rare that he would utter those words back but Tasha just accepted it.

He drove the whole way thinking about how to find Nicki. He tried to piece together the puzzle but something was always missing. Like, he knew her real name wasn't Nicki but he couldn't think of her real name. He knew she would go to elderly peoples homes and care for them but he didn't know her exact job title or where she worked. He sighed as he pulled up to the grocery store. He looked across the parking lot to see a girl who looked like Nicki but she had longer hair. He shook the thought.

"Man, this girl got you seeing shit now?" He said to himself getting out.

When he walked pass the BMW he took note of the pink license plate that read "13AR13". He squinted at it.

'Oh, Barb.' He thought. 'Nicki wore a Barbie chain. Its her!'

When it dawned on him he quickly made his way into the grocery store. He looked down each aisle until he finally saw her. He called out to her. She looked at him and quickly turned away. She began quickly walking away. He caught up to her and stopped in front of her shopping cart.

"We need to talk." He just stared at her. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. She wore her natural hair which caused him to wonder why she hid it.

"Well, speak." She said it with an attitude.

"Oh, I came back to your room but-"

"We left early."

"Yeah." She just stared at him. "Um, you never called."

"Lost your number." She said nonchalantly.

"So, have you filed yet or-"

"Safaree, how the hell was I supposed to file when I don't know your whole name or address or any of that?" She lied.

Thembi told her that his last name was Samuels. Apparently she kept shouting "I'm Mrs. Samuels." to everyone they encountered on her drunken night. She just didn't file because she read somewhere that a lady had to pay her ex husband alimony and give up virtually everything she had because she filed for divorce and there was no way she was giving some stranger everything she worked for.

"Oh, yeah, well. . .do you wanna go to dinner or something?"

"I'm at work right now."

"Grocery shopping?"

"Gotta stock my clients house."

"Oh. Well, breakfast?"

"I don't think that will work." She said dryly.

"You know I'm not going to give up." He smiled and she rolled her eyes. Stupid smile is what got them into this mess.

"That's your problem. Give up and stop trying to dig a deeper ditch for yourself."

"What's your number?" He pulled out his phone.

She sighed, "212. ."

"Uh, huh."

"555. ."

"Yup."

"3946."

"Alright. I'll call you later." He nodded.

"Yup." She pushed her cart down the aisle and disappeared around the corner. He wanted to go after her but his feet wouldn't move. He simply turned and walked out of the store.

A few hours later Nicki found herself anticipating his phone call. Everytime her phone went off her heart would begin pounding. Her text tone went off. It was him. She saved his number before responding.

Safaree: Sup its SB
Nick: Wifey must be near
Safaree: wut?
Nick: You texted instead of callin meaning she must be near
Nick: & I got fifty dollars that says you saved my # under a nigga name
Safaree: Can we meet for breakfast or not
Nick: sure. Do we gotta sneak to Jersey?
Safaree: Just send me your address. Be there around 9
Nick: be here at ten

The next morning Nicki opened her front door to Safaree with foam all around her mouth and a toothbrush in it. He didn't know what she was mumbling but when she stepped aside he walked in and she closed the door. She motioned for him to follow her to the bathroom. He leaned against the doorway and just watched her. He found his self thinking about how cute she looked with the foam all around her mouth. Tasha always tried to be so prime and proper around him and it annoyed him. She rinsed her mouth and then spoke.

"My bad." She walked pass him and he followed her. "My ex came over here at like four o'clock in the morning drunk and fucked up all my shit and then I had to call my brother and they got into it and fucked my shit up more so I've been cleaning up like crazy and-" She sighed and smiled when she realized that she was rambling and telling all her business. "I'll be ready in a second. I just gotta get dressed."

She went into her bedroom and closed the door. On the way back to the living room he passed two kids rooms. He didn't even take into consideration what kind of life she might of had outside of Vegas. Again, he found himself thinking about Tasha and how she said having kids was the last thing she wanted. She wouldn't even compromise with him and give him one kid.

He looked on the coffee table at all the cut up pictures and the empty wine bottle and glass near it. She had just broken up with her boyfriend. He hoped that he wasn't the cause. He looked around for any sign that the house was messed up but there was none. He looked at his watch and realized that she had been gone for almost twenty minutes.

"Yo!" He called out.

"I'm coming! Don't rush me." He heard her call back with an attitude. He smiled.

Moments later she appeared in a simple pair of jeans and a tshirt that read "The Back Looks Better". He stood and walked over to the door but she went the other way. He huffed and she heard him. She reappeared with a smile.

"You mad?" She laughed.

"Hungry."

"Calm your balls. We just gotta make one stop."

"One stop?"

"Its not far. Lets go."

They got into her car and found themselves in Queens moments later. Nicki got out and disappeared into a house for a few minutes. She walked out and kissed a little boy on the cheek. He looked pass her and pointed to the car but she waved him off. Soon she got back into the car with a smile.

"Where to?"

"Thats your kid?"

"No." She laughed. "Why do people always say that? Its my brother."

"Oh. Where are your kids?"

"With your kids." She said looking at the road ahead of her.

"I don't have kids."

"Neither do I." She rolled her eyes.

"But the rooms."

"You shouldn't have been snooping through my shit. My nieces and brother are always at my house and I don't want them fucking up my living room so I got a place big enough for them to have rooms."

"Oh."

"They still fuck up my shit anyways." She shook her head.

"So, that was your parents house?"

"Yup. Had to drop off some money to my mom. My Dad's been sick so he can't work and I'm helping out."

"What's wrong?"

"He was on drugs heavy for a long time and all that shit is fucking with his body now. Anymore questions?"

"Uh, nah." He decided to back off on the questions. For some reason he still wanted to know more about her.

"Where does she think you are?"

"Tux fitting." He wondered what made her ask that.

"Mmm." Nicki chuckled and nodded. "You know my ex? Well, we were together for five, um,almost six years and he cheated on me for pretty much all of it. That's how I can call your bluffs."

"Why you stay with him?"

"The same reason your girl gone stay with you if she find out about this."

"Why?"

"Cause sometimes you think that what you have with someone is all there is and that it won't get better with anyone because you love that person."

"You deserve better though."

"Yeah, my dumbass knows that now." She laughed. "Took two freaking baby mama's and a STD scare to make me realize that."

"He gave you a STD?" He asked shocked and then tried to remember if they had sex and used protection.

"No. Hell no!" She shook her head. "He would be dead." She rolled her eyes. "But he came home crying talking about he thought he had one but he didn't and he was ready to be faithful suddenly but I was just done at that point. Like, the nigga was playing with my health, my life."

"That's fucked up."

"Yeah but it's all good." She smiled as she pulled up to IHOP. "You eat here?"

"Um, yeah." He said. He was still trying to figure out who she was.

After they discussed going about getting an uncontested divorce, which would be the quickest and simplest way, they began having normal conversation. It was easier to talk without all the loud music playing in the background. Safaree couldn't help but compare Nicki to Tasha. Nicki was everything that he imagined in the woman that he would one day marry. As they waited for the check to come a familiar person approached the table.

"So, they selling tuxedo's at IHOP now?"

There will be like a part three and maybe four to this. Sorry if this is too long. Its been in my drafts forever and then I just added to what I had and yeah. It didn't take long to complete this and since I'm bored with more incomplete stuff in my drafts I might update again today but don't count on it.
