One Was Enough Pt. 2 [OF]

Nicki walked into her condo and sat her stuff down before preparing dinner for her and her son. When she didn't come home after the week that he had given her Safaree went out and found the best lawyer possible and filed for divorce. She was crushed to say the least but that's exactly what she needed. She had begun seeing a therapist for her sex addiction shortly after and had improved a lot but it still wasn't enough to win Safaree back.

They had been separated now for five months and the divorce would be final soon. Since she had pretty much neglected her duties as a mother while she was cooped up in the hotel room with her boy toy she lost custody of her son. She got him for three days out of every week and they had to share holidays. At first she fought hard against Safaree's wishes but then she began to see the effects it had on their son and gave up. Her phone rang, pulling her from her thoughts.

"Hello?"

"Nicki, baby, I miss you."

"Brandon, I told you about calling me from different numbers." She rolled her eyes and huffed.

"Baby. you said forever you would be mine."

"Ok, I don't remember saying that for one and for two we're done."

"Why?"

"You know why. Stop acting like a child Brandon."

"Nobody can love me like you do."

"I loved the sex, Brandon, but I'm over that so-"

"Nobody can do you like-"

"No, nobody can keep money in your pockets like I did. We're done! Stop calling me."

"Man, I ain't gone beg."

"Please, don't. You sound stupid." A knock came on her door. "Bye, Brandon."

"But, I-"

She hung up with a smile and made a note to change her number. She couldn't believe how well she had just handled that situation. She opened the door to Safaree and her son.

"Mommy." He hugged her legs. Her and Safaree briefly locked eyes and then she looked down at her son.

"Hey, baby. Mommy missed you."

"Its been twee days since I seen you." He smiled wide and his dimples made an appearance. If no one in the world loved her she knew that he did and probably always would.

"I know." She smiled. "Go put your stuff in your room babe."

"Ok.'' He moved pass her.

"Um, his asthma been acting up so I packed his machine. Just give it to him before bed."

He passed her his larger bag. When she went to take it their hands touched and she swore she felt a spark. He pulled away quickly. He never wanted to be near her anymore and that hurt her more than anything. He looked at her with so much disdain sometimes that her skin crawled. She still loved him though and she knew deep down he felt the same. . .well, at least she hoped he did.

"Alright." He sighed.

"You don't wanna stay? I mean, for dinner. I always cook too much for just me and Omar doesn't have a big appetite so-"

"Nah. I'll just, uh, pick something up."

"You sure because-"

"Nicki, you do this all the time. No."

"Safaree, I just want-"

"You made it clear about what you wanted when you didn't come home."

"Safaree, I have an addiction!" She searched his face for empathy but he had none to spare.

"Cop out."

"Huh?''

"You knew very well what the fuck you were doing."

"What do you want?!" Tears were now running down her eyes. This conversation was long over due. The only discussion they had for the past few months was done through their lawyers.

"Daddy, are you staying too?" Omar appeared by Nicki's side at the door, innocently holding his action figure. Nicki quickly wiped her face and then looked at her son.

"No." She forced a smile. "Daddy was just leaving."

"Bye, Daddy. See you later." He made airplane noises as he ran the other way with his toy.

"See you Sunday." She said dully and went to close the door but Safaree stopped it with his foot.

"You."

"What?" She looked at him confused.

"All I ever wanted was you but I guess I wasn't enough."

"You've always been more than enough." She tried to fight back the tears but they began spilling over. "I had the problem, Safaree, not you. I'm sorry for making you feel that way and leaving our family how I did and forgetting the important stuff and not showing you I cared because I did and I still do and if by some miracle you were to ever say that you wanted me back at home with you guys I would never look back because that's where I'm meant to be and-"

Her rambling was cut off by him pressing his lips against hers. All he ever wanted from her was to say sorry and mean it. He had forgiven her long before she spoke those words but in that moment it seemed as though she had forgiven herself as well. As they kissed each other in the doorway of her swanky LA condo, they both realized that one would always be enough.

This is short and kinda thrown together, I know, but tell me what you think. I wrote it in like, thirty minutes so. . .be nice. Lol
