Nicki sat on the couch rolling her eyes at Dora. As smart as the kids were why did they like this show? She checked the time on her phone. Drake wouldn't be home for another two hours if he didn't go out. Lately he was coming home early to spend time with the family which made her happy.
"Ni-Ni, can we go to the park?" AJ asked.
"No, its raining."
"No its not. It stopped." He whined.
"Well, its still wet and cold and-"
"She hates us Nathan!" AJ cried out as he ran to his older brother.
She shook her head and looked over at Aaliyah in her play pen watching Dora. She was a peaceful toddler and was always unfazed by her brothers antics. Aaliyah was two, AJ was four and Nathan was five. The boys looked exactly like their father whereas Aaliyah was a perfect mix between her mother and father. Nicki was so happy Drake hadn't blessed her with his eyebrows. She would always tease him about that. She smiled to herself but before her thoughts could drift any further from her reality she heard a glass shatter.
"What was that?!" She yelled as she made her way to the kitchen after picking Aaliyah up.
"Nothing!" Nathan yelled as he ran pass her.
"Nathan Dewayne Graham, get back here!"
"Yes ma'am." He slowly walked down the stairs and towards her.
"What was that?" She adjusted Aaliyah on her hip. He shrugged and she sighed in response. "Let's go."
They walked into the kitchen where AJ was trying to clean up broken glass.
"AJ, stop." He looked up at her confused. He had glass all around him. She was afraid he would cut himself. "Come here. No, no. . .um, stay right there."
She sat Aaliyah down in her high chair. She motioned for Nathan to take a seat without even speaking to him. She loved having that power.
"Aubrey, I'm serious. Do not move, ok? I'll be right back."
"Ok." He said sheepishly.
She walked swiftly to the front door to grab her sneakers but they weren't there. She always left them there. She huffed.
"Nathan! Where are my shoes?!" She stormed back into the kitchen and was met by his smirk.
"You're getting colder." He raised an eyebrow.
"Its not funny Nathan! Your brother-"
"The longer we sit here the more danger he's in." He began to laugh.
"I did not sign up for this shit." She mumbled. She walked out the kitchen and made her way upstairs.
She began working for Drake two months after his wife left him. She never asked why because at first she didn't care, she was there to do a job but like all things in her life things took a turn for the more complicated side. Before Drake she had never met a single father who was attractive and driven like him. The rap game belonged to Drake but he treated it like he was a Freshman. She had been working as his nanny for five months and with each day she fell even harder for him.
She was about to go into the bedroom that she slept in when she had to stay over but remembered she hadn't left any shoes there. She began walking down the hall to Drake's room. His wife left some things behind when she left them. The only reason she knew this was because Nathan and AJ hid Aaliyah in there her first day in attempt to get her to leave. She made her way to the closet and spotted a pair of flats. She slipped them on and rushed down stairs.
"Ok." She sighed and lifted AJ up. As soon as she placed him down the front door opened.
"Daddy?" Nathan perked up.
"Daddy!" AJ ran towards the front door and Nathan followed.
"Sup man?" Drake asked. Nicki heard him grunt as though he was picking something up. Her and Aaliyah smiled at his voice.
"Hey Nic." He came into the kitchen holding both boys.
"Hi." She smiled hard. She couldn't hide her excitement.
"What happened here?" He placed the boys down and looked at them.
"I had an accident Drake. I'm sorry, you can take-"
"Take it out your check. Of course." He smiled and she did the same. "Alright, meet me in the game room fellas. Pick a game to get this a. . Um, butt whooping in."
Nicki shook her head at him. She had to constantly remind him not to curse around the kids. She went to the hall closet and grabbed the broom and dust pan. She walked in to Aaliyah pinching Drake's cheeks.
"She does that to me all day." She laughed.
"If I had all day, I would do the same." He smiled and she blushed. "I mean. . .let her pinch my cheeks."
"Of course." She knew he didn't want to come off as inappropriate. He always covered his flirting with excuses. She walked carefully towards the glass.
"You gone be broke fucking around with them boys." He chuckled.
"What ever are you talking about?" She said in a British accent. He always found it cute although she was a horrible liar.
"You're a terrible liar." He laughed.
"You are too. You never take the money out my check."
"Never said I would." He took the broom from her and finished sweeping up. "Seriously though Nicki, stop lying for them."
"Ok." She smirked.
"I'm serious."
"Ok." She laughed.
"Why you defend them when they treat you so bad? They only do it because you allow it."
"I know but I just don't want to be too hard on them."
"Why though?"
"I guess I can identify with having a parent walk out. They're mad and I think they think I'm trying to replace her."
"I guess I never thought about it like that. I suppose I would think the same if my dad bought someone as gorgeousas you into our home." She tried not to smile hard but failedand he noticed. "Anyway, thanks."
"For what?"
"I don't know. . .all this."
"No problem." She smiled. "Well, I think I'll be leaving."
"You can't!" He said eagerly. "I mean, its raining pretty badly. You should just stay."
"Um," She looked out the window trying to figure out when it got that bad. "I guess."
"I bought home Despicable Me, Two. Wanna watch? I mean with the boys." She smiled at his shyness.
"How'd you get that?"
"Ya boy got connects."
"You are so corny!" She laughed. It was hard to imagine him tough after seeing him in daddy mode. "I'm about to take a quick shower."
"Ok, make it quick. I need to take one, too. I don't want to leave my little lady alone." He tickled Aaliyah.
"I'm off the clock, boss. You can't tell me what to do." She smirked and walked away.
"I can show you better than I can tell you." He mumbled.
"I heard that!" She laughed.
After taking his shower Drake made his way to his home movie theatre. When he entered, Aaliyah was wrestling with AJ and Nathan was cheering her on. From AJ's whines you would have thought she was really doing damage. He looked over to Nicki who was simply observing. She had on an over sized OVO t-shirt and and some leggings with her natural hair pulled into a messy ponytail. He thought she was beautiful.
"So this what you let my kids do?" He chuckled and took a seat next to her.
"No," She chuckled. "Ok, sometimes but he tries to take her toys and candy but ladybug don't be playing that."
"Word?" He laughed and she nodded.
"Come here Ladybug." Aaliyah let go of her brother and made her way to Nicki.
"You gone turn my baby into a boy."
"She'll grow out of it. Right now she's in survival mode." She began fixing Aaliyah's curly hair which was all over her head.
"Survival mode?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Yes. Big brothers can be jerks and you have to let them know who boss. Ain't that right Ladybug?"
"Ma-Ma." Aaliyah turned to Nicki and pinched her cheeks. She was fascinated with her dimples.
"No, Aaliyah." Nicki said sternly. "Nicki." She pointed to herself.
"Ni-Ni?" She cocked her head to the side and gave a questionable look.
"Yes." She smiled and turned her around to face the screen . "So, you gone put the movie on or what? We're getting restless."
"We?" Drake asked.
"Put the movie on Drake." She whined.
"Ok."
Drake put the movie on and within the first twenty minutes everyone was asleep. He picked the boys up and took them to his bed. It was still raining and he knew they would end up there anyway once they heard thunder. He placed them on the side of the bed that their mother slept in. He was finally in a place where he had truly forgiven her. After she had Aaliyah she had slipped into a depression. It got worse and his busy schedule and fame made it worse. One day he came home to Nathan trying to feed his siblings because their mom 'went for a walk'. Just as he turned to go get Aaliyah and Nicki he heard a small voice.
"Drake?"
"I was just about to come get you guys."
"Oh, well. . . She woke up and was whining for you so you know. ."
"You got scared?" He laughed.
"Nooo." He straightfaced her. "Ok, ok. I got scared and tried to wake this one up but she deviated from the plan. I'm so disappointed." She shook her head and he laughed.
"Get in the bed." He laughed.
"But-"
"I'm not going to touch you." He put his hands in the air where she could see them and laughed.
Nicki climbed into the king sized bed with Aaliyah still clinging to her. She laid on her left side and placed Aaliyah in front of her but allowed her leg and arm to stay wrapped around her. Drake laid down an began stroking Aaliyah's hair. Nicki began stroking her cheek. They hadn't realized they were doing the same thing until their hands touched. Nicki began to pull her hand away but he grabbed it and intertwined their fingers.
"I know it's probably inappropriate for me to say this but I've always thought about what it would be like. . .what it would take to get you in this bed." He laughed. "Now I know."
"All you ever have to do is ask Drake." She flirted unintentionally but once the words escaped, she couldn't take them back. She didn't want him to think negatively of her or jeopardize her job. He sensed her growing uncomfortable.
"Nicki," He laughed and let her hand go. He laid on his back and placed his hands behind his head. "You don't have to flirt with me or be extra nice. I'm not going to fire you or anything because you don't wanna have sex with me. My kids love you, even if they bad as hell."
"But I want to!" She said eagerly with a whine. She thought about how that sounded. He was making her so nervous. "I mean not sex. . . I wouldn't mind that but i mean. . . Ugh, I'm nice to you because i like you. I love being around you and the kids. I love my job."
"I don't really like you Nicki."
"Oh."
"No, not like that." He laughed. "I mean, I think I, well, I love you Nicki."
"Drake."
"Before you came here the kids never laughed, I didn't either, and this was before my wife left. You brought back happiness to us. Your smile is so contagious and I would catch it every day. My kids can be kids. Before you came, for some reason I felt like less of a man but you give that to me. I really feel like you complete me. You complete us. I know you thinking, 'Where did this come from?' but the first day we met you I fell hard. I'm sorry if this is all so much. I know this is beyond inappropriate but I -"
"Don't be sorry Drake. I guess I feel the same. I'm kind of confused because for the longest I thought I just had some stupid crush on you but it's more than that. I just don't want to confuse the kids or-"
"They'll be fine." He leaned over Aaliyah's small body and found her forehead in the dark with his lips. He kissed it.
"But what about-"
"Don't worry about it." He kissed her nose.
"Drake, the kids-" He cut her off by kissing her lips. Naturally she kissed him back. They were stopped by Nathan's obnoxious laugh.
"Daddy's got cooties!" He teased.
"Ew, Daddy!" AJ chimed in while rubbing his eyes and yawning.
"Take yall butts to sleep." Drake said.
"Not sleepy." Nathan hopped out the bed. "Lets go finish the movie, pleeeeeeasssssse!"
"Ok. You coming Nic." Drake asked.
"Yeah. Get my ladybug. Come on AJ."
They made there way to the movie theatre with Nathan teasing and AJ asking a million questions about their relationship.
"Are you are new mommy Ni-Ni? Is Ni-Ni our new mommy daddy?" AJ asked.
"No," Drake began. "But if she wants I could promote her." He smiled.
"To?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Girlfriend."
"I need a raise."
"I got a raise." He flirted and she hit his arm playfully.
"Well, of course." She stood on her tip toes and kissed him.
"Ewwwwwww!" The boys said in unison but unlike before they didn't allow that to interrupt them.
